Nike 20Xi Golf Ball Review

Nike has always been a fan of the theatrics and their new golf ball series the 20Xi has the same feel. The latest and greatest from the Nike “Oven” created the most advanced golf ball technology. What we can assume is that this revolutionary new golf ball delivers more distance off the tee and better control on the greens. The construction made the layers simpler and focused on the core. This MOI increase makes for a steeper spin slope. What is the key distinction between this golf ball and others is the ball’s resin core-usually balls are made with a rubber core. With a pricey retail tag these are definitely only golf balls for the serious golfer. However, is it worth it? we like to think so. With overall less spin on all the clubs we tested it with and great launch off different swing speeds. Available at it comes in both a 20Xi-S version for spin and control and 20Xi-X for distance and control.

Cobra S3 Iron Set Review

With the release of Cobra’s S3 irons it might look like Cobra Golf is trying to go into the direction of of a modern hip brand. With the black design and yellow accents the S3 line is a great looking set of irons. Cobra has taken their game improving irons to the next level with this 2011 generation. Complete with Cobra’s E9 Face Technology which is on just about all of their newest collections. The E9 technology is basically a design Cobra has introduced to optimize golfers performance after their research showed that hitting patterns tended to be in an elliptical pattern. This also created a larger Sweet Zone so that your shanked and off center shots will have more forgiveness.

As far as performance goes these irons are high launching and forgiving. They produce long distances and are especially easy at address. The performance of these irons was by no means disappointing, living up to a great overall performer from Cobra.

Adams Golf V3 Hybrid-Iron Set Review

Adams Golf created their set of V3 Hybrid-Irons to “Play as good as they look” according to Michael Vrska director of product development over at Adams golf. The new idea Tech V3 hybrids and irons bring together a black PVD finish and easy performance for mid-range handicappers. This 8 piece set encompasses everything from from 4,5,6, hybrids to the 7 mid hybrid. The irons feature four oversized cavity-back irons 8-gap wedge. What’s unique about the set is the weight placement on the heads. The hybrids have precisely placed tugsten weighting on the steel heads enhances the forgiveness of the clubs and reduces turf drag. The forged irons have heel toe weighting for improvements in feel across the face. With some of the latest technology from the Adams Golf labs this is one set we were extremely excite about.

The set not only excels in it’s appearance but also it’s easy to hit not leaving any gapping issues the clubs work very well together. Performing just as good as it looks was not just a promise it was the truth. A great set for those player looking to integrate hybrids into their iron set Adams is still the leader in their hybrid technology.

TaylorMade Tour Ghost Putters Review

If you’re a big putter fan you probably have lusted over TaylorMade’s original Corza Ghost mallet putter. With the success of the Corza Ghost putter and TaylorMade’s love of white golf clubs they extended the line to their all new Ghost series.  With three new models including the Daytona, (blade style) Fontana (mid-mallet style), and Maranello (small mallet).

The Ghost series was engineered under advisement of PGA Tour coaches and TM Tour Staff. The white color and alignment aids are brought over from their previous model. The big deal with the new series is the Pure Roll titanium face insert. The insert is supposed to solve 2 common problems found in putter performance; loft and face impact. Not incredibly different from the previous Ghost model merely a subtle shift in in the feel of the firmness. No longer newsworthy is TaylorMade’s white clubhead which help at address and give that stark contrast between the green and the club.

With notable improvements we loved the evolution of this putter into the newest Ghost line. Don’t get your hopes up that the new line is lifechaningly different then the previous model, you just have more design choices now. At $160 these putters are worth their keep. We found free shipping for them at to boot.

Cleveland Mashie Hybrid Review

Cleveland MashieCleveland’s Mashie Hybrid is one blast from the past, think of these days these were still called utility clubs. Let’s start off with it’s looks, this retro cool club is as versatile as it’s shape looks. Not your typical hybrid looking club complete with Cleveland’s “Retro-Raw” finish which gives it that greyish look. The two rails on the side make it really stand out as far as first looks go.

Down to it’s workability. The Mashie is a joy to swing, lightweight and makes great contact. The versatility on this club was something we were hoping for but not expecting how great it was. Easy to hit from the fairway or medium rough it was able to get the ball out and fast. Finished off with a stock Miyazaki C. Kua 59 gram shaft, delivers that lightweight feeling you certainly aren’t going to find in other hybrids.

Definitely a contender to be the #1 hybrid on the market. Love or hate the headcover it’s definitely a head turner in the bag. You can find this golf clubs for around $150 at online stores.

Masters Tournament-What’s In The Golf Bag

Master’s Tournament week-we take a special look into the players golf bags. Players not only bring their A game they bring their A clubs. What type of chances do golfers take? Latest and greatest golf clubs or good old faithful. Most stick with their new equipment they have been playing with this season. But you never know what type of clubs you will be needing on one of the most historic, beautiful, and difficult courses in the world.

Players like Phil have been using his bag of Callaway clubs including, RAZR Hawk Tour 9.5 Driver, the Big Bertha Diablo Fairway, X-forged irons, JAWS wedge, White Hot XG blade, and finishing it with Callaway Tour i(z). Phil has announced that he will be playing with 2 different driver with different lengths, this should be interesting.

The other man who knows Augusta Nationals Golf Course just as good and 3 time champion is Tiger Woods. He is playing with a Nike bag of tricks including VR Tour Driver, VR Pro Blades, Method 003 putter, and VR Forged Wedge finishing with the ONE Tour D golf balls

Nike VR Pro Wedge Review

Nike just released their award winning wedge on April 1st. The Nike VR Pro Wedge received a silver medal on the Golf Digest Hot List for 2011. Nike Golf continues to innovate and redesign their clubs to make it a better golfing world for everyone. The wedge is a succession of their popular VR Pro Line. Forged for accurate shot-shaping on the green this wedge is one of the most exact hitting we have used in a long time. This is a true craftsman club, from the materials to the design it is overall a work of quality.

The wedges face consists of more grooves than a standard club which results in cleaner more consistent ball flights and spin. Having more grooves closer together allows for a cleaner and consistent strike. That is why they crafted it for consistency. Perfect for golfers who need a fresh wedge in their bag with conforming grooves. If you are unfamiliar with the new grooves rule has a great explanation of the new wedge rules.

Nike Tour Athlete’s have already happily adopted this new club as their own such as Stewart Cink, Anthony Kim, Francesco Molinari and Tiger Woods. With the Master’s only a week away they will be using this wedge as their saving grace.
