Bridgestone B330 Golf Ball Review

The Bridgestone B330 golf ball is one of the most well designed and thought out golf ball I have ever played with. While Bridgestone is a big name to live up to in the golf ball community I think their latest star attraction lives up to all the hype. Dedicated to the innovation of this ball they don’t forget about quality. The Tour B330 line breaks down into a few different subsects: the regular Tour B330 and the B330-RX for golfers with various swing speeds to have a tour ball option.

The most important advancement on the Tour B330 series is the 330 Seamless Cover Technology. designed to reduce drag and hold the ball in the air longer. They updated this formula to make the new models softer and with a slightly different dimple pattern to encourage penetrating ball flight. Of course let’s not forget these are professional grade level golf balls matched for swing speeds over 105 MPH so they are built tough.

Overall these are a great series of golf balls for serious players. We did like the fact that they also come in Optic yellow if you need a little extra help finding your golf ball. The B330’s will definitely give your game the ultimate control from a golf ball. You can find the B330 series and other Bridgestone Golf Balls at GolfClubs.com

Srixon Q-Star Golf Ball Review

With a slogan “question everything” Srixon’s latest golf ball has plenty to live up to. The next stage in their popular STAR (Spin, Trajectory, Acceleration, Responsiveness) line of golf balls continues on from the Z-Star. The new Q-Star golf ball has been upgraded by adding a larger core for better distance and a softer highly resilient thin cover and soft core.

First looking at them they look very similar to the Z-Star. Performing they worked great on drives, flew straight with the occasional slice. As advertised it’s best for golfers who have swing speeds over 80. Definitely added serious distance similar to Bridgestone’s e6. Working with the irons I got great ball flight and it just soared. Working with the short game clubs the ball worked great around the green. Overall it hits straight, long, and with great spin. You can order the Srixon Q-Star Golf Balls at GolfClubs.com

TaylorMade Penta TP vs. Titleist Pro V1

Two of the most played high performance premium golf balls are TaylorMade’s Penta and Titleist Pro V1. Used by Tour players and exalted by awards and testers.

The main difference between the ProV1 and the Penta is spin. Titleist has been cited as the maker with the best spin. However, Penta has been praised for it’s side spin and ability to stop on the mark. Pro V1 however will spin more on shots around the greens and inside 60 yards but anything outside their basically identical. What it comes down to is spin and where you want it to spin overall the Pro V1 has more spin and the Penta has the ability to stop spot on. Depending on what your looking for they are both phenomenal performers and that’s why they come with that high performance price tag.

Callaway Diablo HX Golf Ball Review

Callaway’s newest golf ball has all the best of Callaway technology. From their award winning series collection, the Diablo name rests on these golf balls. Constructed with Callaway’s own Hex aerodynamic technology that reduces drag and allows for better ball flight.

The Callaway HX Diablo Golf Ball is 2 piece construction golf ball geared towards a player who wants better performance from tee-to-green. What’s different from this ball than previous Callaway models? The core has a softer center which allows the ball to gain more distance and less spin off the driver and more when used with the shorter irons for better greenside control. The cover was designed as a performance-enhancing system to help player with their short game without comprising spin on drives.

After testing a set of these golf balls out we couldn’t help but conclude that we agree with Callaway. Drives off the tee were getting great distance without serious spin but on short game shots there was still a bit of spin to get the ball right where it needed to be. We would recommend this ball for the golfer who is looking for help with distance and accuracy mainly off the tee.

Titleist Pro V1 vs. Pro V1x

Titleist may have some of the most played golf balls on Tour but what does that mean for the average golfer that isn’t making their living playing golf? Yes, most players have or at one time played with a Titleist golf ball but what makes them so special? Well it all comes down to design, specifically the dimples. That’s what distinguishing the Pro V1 and Pro V1 not only from the competition but each other.

The Pro V1 has a total dimple count of 392 with 5 different types where as the Pro V1x has a total of 332 dimples with 7 different types. Because the Pro V1 golf ball has more dimples it gives it more opportunity to cup wind resistance to increase spin rate, just imagine more dimples more speed. They are both made out of the exact same material so the “feel” is essentially the same on each golf ball. How Titleist explains the difference between the two as the ProV1 has “long distance with consistent ball flight” and the ProV1x has “Low Spin and Increased Velocity for Long, Straight Distance.”

Callaway Tour i(S) Golf Ball Review

Part of their 2011 line up Callaway introduced the Callaway Tour i(S) golf ball along with the Tour iZ, Diablo HT. What sets the i(S) apart from other golf balls is the technology, Callaway uniquely designed this golf ball to perform better. A HEX dimple design to reduce drag. A dual core improves both distance and control. A urethane cover is what gives the ball that softer feel and better spin.

They had great response and spin. Overall we would rate these as a solid performer. Definitely a soft feel at impact but your still able to get that good distance off the tee. Works great around the greens doesn’t scuff up too much. Comes off the putter face quickly. It’s most similar to the ProV1 with a bit less spin off the driver and long irons but still very responsive around the greens.

Bridgestone e-Series Golf Ball Review

Bridgestone e-Series golf balls have been engineered for distance performance customized to golfer’s specific needs. The latest version of the e-Series is based on distance performance and new Dual Dimple Technology. The dimple design allows for better pop off the tee, the inside dimple works to increase power and outer dimple ball roll. Bridgestone known for their golf ball fittings.

  • The e5 is the only 2 piece, urethane construction cover for better distance for moderate swing speeds. Still delivering soft feel and spin around the greens. This ball is great for those short game shots and improvement distance off the tee.
  • The e6 has one of the softest multi-layer golf balls available reducing side spin for increased accuracy. This 3 layer ball has a soft compression core, anti side spin inner layer, and soft surlyn cover. A different look from it’s predecessors quiet noticeable is the dual dimple design. Great alignment arrow as well added to the design to aid for putts and tee shots. Overall the e6 is a great new design and it is a great ball to help position you better on the green. Along with the traditional white, the e-6 also available in optic yellow and orange.
  • The e7 uses it’s multilayer construction for faster speed and longer distances on all shots. Specifically designed for ball flight and what many describe as the “most pure distance of the e-Series golf balls”.

Nike 20Xi Golf Ball Review

Nike has always been a fan of the theatrics and their new golf ball series the 20Xi has the same feel. The latest and greatest from the Nike “Oven” created the most advanced golf ball technology. What we can assume is that this revolutionary new golf ball delivers more distance off the tee and better control on the greens. The construction made the layers simpler and focused on the core. This MOI increase makes for a steeper spin slope. What is the key distinction between this golf ball and others is the ball’s resin core-usually balls are made with a rubber core. With a pricey retail tag these are definitely only golf balls for the serious golfer. However, is it worth it? we like to think so. With overall less spin on all the clubs we tested it with and great launch off different swing speeds. Available at GolfClubs.com it comes in both a 20Xi-S version for spin and control and 20Xi-X for distance and control.
